Last week we finally went to Harveys which is situated in Winchester Mansions on Sea Point beach road for lunch and we got to use our Entertainer app.
Venue – Perfect location directly opposite the beach and park, with great views. The restaurant is situated at the front of the hotel opposite the bar. First impressions light , clean and sophisticated but yet it still has a laid back feel. Perfect for a Sunday lunch on a Summers day.
Service – For me service plays a major experience in a dining experience and I normally have the worst luck when it comes to waiters/ waitresses. We had an amazing waitress named Ayanda who was attentive and friendly but most importantly knew how to interact and laugh with diners. We needed the manager to give us a code of the entertainer app and our internet connection was giving problems and he waited without any hassle.
Food – I have seen many pictures of the Sirloin Hollandaise on social media so my mind was made up before I got there while David opted for The Winchester Burger. The Sirloin was cooked to perfection and was served on a bed of seasonal roast veg with potato wedges and Hollandaise sauce. If you unsure of the sauce like I was you can opt for it to be served separate, which they did with no complaints. Only thing I did not care for was the sauce but that’s based on personal preference. The Winchester Burger is a beef patty, chakalaka, melted cheddar cheese , smokey bacon and a fried egg and was served with chips and a salad. David was extremely impressed with the chakalaka which was filled with body and flavour. Portion sizes are very generous and of real good quality, well worth the price.
Pricing – In my opinion pricing based on portion size , quality and overall experience is reasonable and even more so when using the entertainer app. The Sirloin Hollandaise – R145
The Winchester Burger – R95
Overall Experience – We had an amazing experience and we definitely will be back to try out their breakfast and dinner menu’s. If you haven’t gone to Harveys before certainly put it on your to do list.
