While there are many of us who live a simple life where, we are just able to cover bills and put food on the table and a roof over our head. There are many people who aren’t able to do even that for themselves and their families.Mothers leaving their homes with not even as much as a toothbrush to get themselves and their children to safety and out of an abusive situation.Abuse is a major problem in our country, especially abuse against women and children. With this in mind we have teamed up with Rashieda Adams the amazing blogger behind TheEternalMuslimah to do a toiletry and non-perishable food drive for the Saartjie Baartman Centre for women and children.
A 24-hour emergency shelter (safe accommodation)
Short and medium term residential care
Counselling, mental health support, legal and economic empowerment services
Research in gender-based violence
Job Skills training
Our vision is to collect basic but essential items needed such as:
Lotions or creams
Shampoo and Conditioner
The drive runs from the 23rd July until the 13th of August. Handover will be arranged for the 15th August (Womens month). Should you wish to donate you may contact me (Candice) on 081 3802879 or (Rashieda) on 082 752 0051 to arrange a drop off or collection. Both numbers are whatsapp friendly.
